Glen Eugene Carlson

April 23, 1948 — February 27, 2022

Glen Eugene Carlson passed away on February 27th, 2022 at the age of 73 in South Jordan, UT. He was born on April 23rd, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ray Donald and Ruth Coates Carlson. He married his wife, Kathy Bird, on August 12th, 1972.
Glen enjoyed camping, hiking, hunting, riding ATVs in the great outdoors, or generally anything that involved spending time with family and friends.
Glen was the ultimate sports fanatic. So much so, he owned season tickets to the Utah Jazz for 30 years and the Utah Utes football for 15 years. He so loved sports he shared his love with his three sons and the youth in the Midvale community through coaching baseball, basketball, and football. Many of the youth in his later life always remembered the influence he had on them and would tell Coach ‘thanks’.
Glen was always a hard-working man who wanted to provide a good life for his family. He started work at A & E Generator the day after he graduated from high school in 1966. He worked them for 34 years until 2000. He joined his wife, Kathy, and brother-in-law, Scott Bird, in running the family business, Highways Contractors Inc. until his retirement, December 31st, 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, his sons Travis(Sherry), Trent(Amy), and Trevor(Melissa) Carlson.  Nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Siblings Ken(Deb), Roger(Teri), Cindy(Ron), Davis, sister-in-law, Pat, brother-in-law, Bob Andrews, and beloved dog, Chico.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ruth, his brother Darwin, his sisters Diane Andrews and Shiela(Don) Erickson. His fur babies Brownie, Scooter, Chopper, and Jasmine.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 4th, 2022 at 1:30 PM. Preceding the service a viewing will be held at 12:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary. 6500 S Redwood Rd. West Jordan, UT. 84123.
Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Cemetery following the service.
