Glen Brent Maloney

November 20, 1951 — May 17, 2018

Glen Brent Maloney born November 20, 1951 passed away unexpectedly May 17, 2018. Brent was the youngest son of Karl Thomas Maloney and Daisy Opal Bleazard Maloney. He married his sweetheart, Patsy Lee Violet Varner 42 years ago; together they raised four children together: Casey Maloney, Dusty Maloney, BettyJo Maloney, and Destiny Maloney. He has five grandchildren: Elliott Parkin, Zachary Parkin, Isabell Parkin, Damien Maloney and CallieJo Gabbitas along with one great grandson, Anthony Parkin.
Brent was a thrill seeker; he enjoyed taking his Jeep to Moab and parking it on the top of the red rocks to sit with his wife, Patsy, daughters and socialize with his long time friends while taking in the beautiful scenery. He found delight in sitting around a warm campfire with his wife, Patsy and his children. Many family vacations and memories were spent on the beautiful water of Lake Powell, one of Brent’s favorite destinations.
Brent loved roller coasters, some of which he rode alone because they were too much for even his children. Brent loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle; letting the wind blow through his hair only to forget sometimes to put his helmet on before he pulled into the driveway only to be scolded by his wife for not wearing his helmet every time he was on his motorcycle. Brent enjoyed planting and taking care of his garden every year, he took great pride in his yard making sure his grass was cut just the right way twice a week, edged to perfection meanwhile keeping up with those pesky weeds that never seemed to go away.
Brent loved to listen to classic rock-n-roll songs and watch old Western movies that would often annoy his kids. His children would bring home an up to date movie for him to watch; he’d say he would get to it, then watch it and say, “They just don’t make movies the way they used to, that was dumb”. Leaving his kids with their mouths agape. Brent had an amazing sense of humor, he loved telling his family a joke he heard or would bring home a comic strip he read at work for us all to read. Brent loved his Sudoku puzzles, playing Solitaire and Blackjack usually at 4:00 am when he couldn’t sleep.
Brent had a heart of gold. The mold was broke when Brent was born; his love, integrity, compassion and overall ethic are incomparable. He was always willing to help anyone regardless of whom he or she were, what he or she had done or said. He felt genuine joy in helping people be it mowing their lawn, climbing on a roof to fix an air conditioner or trying to beat another neighbor at snowplowing the sidewalks for his neighbors on the very special street Brent and Patsy lived on together.
Brent didn’t like the nonsense around the holidays however, he took great pleasure in putting up his holiday lights until it simply got too cold for him to create his amazing displays however, there was one holiday that Brent Maloney’s children especially looked forward to every single year and that was Valentine’s day. No one knows why Brent chose Valentine’s Day to be his holiday where as his wife seemed to take care of the other holidays. His kids even as adults would wait for their dad to ring the doorbell to receive the specially selected Valentine’s Day card. Sometimes those cards were a little late however, every year he bought them, wrote them out, placed them on the doorstep, rang the doorbell and ran off. Those Valentine’s Day cards were priceless to his children.
Brent was an amazing man, a beautiful soul that was taken too soon. So many things are left undone, and the loss of his presence has left a huge hole and ache in his family’s heart and their life. They say, “Grief is the ultimate price of love” no truer words could be said.
Brent Maloney is survived by his wife, Patsy Lee Violet and children: Casey Maloney (American Fork, UT), Dusty Maloney (Taylorsville, UT), BettyJo Maloney (Cedar Hills, UT), and Destiny Maloney (Cedar Hills, UT) along with his five grandchildren: Elliott Parkin, Zachary Parkin, Isabell Parkin, Damien Maloney, CallieJo Gabbitas and great grandson, Anthony Parkin. His siblings: Shirley Llewelyn (Evan), Elaine Warr (Dennis), Wayne Maloney (Connie), and Eileen Maloney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl Thomas Maloney and Daisy Opal Bleazard Maloney, and brother Richard Maloney.
