Gladys Lavelle Wagstaff Fagg

Gladys LaVelle Wagstaff Fagg, passed away quietly in her home surrounded by family on Friday, June 2, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on May 22, 1930 in Murray, Utah to Harold George (Jake) and Gladys Wagstaff.  She spent her youth in Holladay, Utah where she attended Granite High School.  She cherished many long-lasting friendships developed during those years and met monthly for over 60 years with a group of high school friends nicknamed the “Club.”  Childhood friendships, along with her dear siblings, provided a great source of joy throughout her life.
LaVelle was a lifelong, faithful member of the LDS Church and a champion of the less fortunate. She loved family gatherings, the vistas of Mount Olympus, and the colorful wildflowers scattered throughout the Albion Basin. She devoted a lifetime to family history searching family names and providing temple work for her ancestors.
LaVelle married Donald LaVarr Fagg on June 12, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They served together in many church assignments, including an LDS mission to Micronesia Guam/Washington Spokane, temple workers in the Salt Lake Temple, and advisors for the single and senior single adults.
Her greatest joy was in her family. Don and LaVelle were blessed with seven children: David Wagstaff (Marla); Heidi Ashton (Kay); Scott Wagstaff (Connie); Cindy Brown (Steve); Matt Wagstaff (Vanessa); all of Salt Lake City; Susan Reed (Mike), Houston, Texas; and Brad Wagstaff (Sidona) Billings, Montana; 31 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.  She treasured her relationship with her siblings:  Ivy Mae Quist, Harold Ronald Wagstaff, Helen Christiansen, Brig Wagstaff and Kathryn Ann Hale.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12:00 noon at the Holladay 10th Ward, 4601 Chapel Drive, Holladay, Utah. Friends may call at Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Wednesday, 6 -8 pm and Thursday 11:00 to 11: 45 am at the church prior to the service.  Burial will be at Memorial Holladay Cemetery.
