September 16, 1913 — September 7, 2015

Our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father, September 7, 2015, nine days short of 102 years old.
Gilbert was born September 16, 1913 in Holladay, Utah to Walter Henry and Elizabeth Howard Allington. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout (the 1st generation of Eagles now 4 generations strong). Gilbert married Naomi Gatherum in the Salt Lake Temple in 1938. He served his country during WWII in the US Army.
Gilbert was an avid bowler until he turned 98, and is recorded in the Utah Bowler’s Hall of Fame. He also loved gardening – his garden was his masterpiece. Gilbert loved fishing and taking and teaching his grandchildren how to do it right. His greatest love was his family.
Survived by his daughter, Jeri (Don) Wehrli; 7 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter, and sister, Vilate Jensen. Preceded in death by his wife, granddaughter, Wendy, great-grandson, Nate and 6 brothers and sisters.
