Gertrude Anderson-Estey

Gertrude “Trudy” Anderson-Estey passed away February 19, 2015. Gertrude was born May 18, 1929, in Flensburg, Germany to Karl & Marie Jessen. Trudy was raised by her father and step mother, Katherine “Didi” Jessen. Trudy married Daniel Gordon Anderson in May 1948 Liverpool, England. They were married 49 ½ years. Second husband David Estey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon, sister Dora, brother Kali, and grandson Rocky.
Trudy owned and operated the Hillcrest Market on 1st Avenue in SLC, for 14 years. She worked for Siegfrieds Deli from 1989- 2005. She loved entertaining, “Christmas being her favorite holiday”. She enjoyed giving lots of presents and serving the traditional German dinner. She loved taking care of her yard, and recently earned the Murray City Beautification award. Her favorite place to travel was to England.
She is survived by husband David, son Daniel (Leslie), son Scott (Debbie), grandchildren Savannah, Tyler, Elsha and Daniel, sister Elga (Dean),along with many extended family members she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 11:00 am, at Murray Memorial Mortuary, with a viewing on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 6-8 pm, and one hour prior to funeral service. Interment will follow the service at Holladay Memorial Cemetery, 4900 South Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital is suggested.
