Geraldine (Jeri) Vera Price Jensen, our wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, after many years of battling breast cancer.
Jeri was born February 14, 1945 in Salt Lake City to Douglas and Vera Price. She was the fourth of six children. Jeri grew up in her beloved Sugarhouse neighborhood surrounded by lots of children. Jeri attended Highland High School and graduated in 1963.
Three weeks after graduation, Jeri married Bud M. Jensen on June 27, 1963 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Within two years she was a mother to a one-year-old (Mike) and newborn (Shellie), followed by Pam and Stephanie in later years. Jeri excelled at being a stay-at-home mom, stating it was her greatest achievement. She loved taking care of her little ones and always strived to make their childhoods wonderful, even on a tight budget.
Jeri was an excellent cook, baker (pies were her specialty), seamstress, crafter, knitter, gardener, interior decorator and overall homemaker extraordinaire! She was known for making everything from scratch and taught all of her children to bake and cook. There wasn’t much mom couldn’t do!
After moving to Centerville in 1980, Jeri returned to work due to a reduction in her husband’s pay. She worked at various places until eventually landing at Albertson’s Distribution Center in the accounting department from 1981-2006. Mom loved numbers and was meticulous with finding accounting errors and could balance a checkbook to the penny!
Mom had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. Her testimony of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon grew in her youth, and she credited her wonderful neighborhood friends and their families. She held many church callings and always enjoyed serving. Mom loved genealogy and was very proud of her heritage. We know she is having a wonderful reunion with her beloved ancestors.
Mom truly loved her family, including her 5 siblings. She especially loved her lunch and phone dates with her sisters! She taught us all so well and inspired us to do our best. Mom loved and supported all of us and especially encouraged us to further our education. We are grateful to call her mom, and she will be truly missed. We love you, Mom!
Jeri is survived by her 4 children: Mike (Denise) Jensen; Shellie Jensen; Pam Jensen and Stephanie (Frank) Sessions, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Dick Price; Cal (Linda) Price; Connie (Rodger) Fry; and Sandy Knight.
Jeri is preceded in death by her husband Bud, her parents, and older sister JoAnn.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, October 29th between 6-8 pm at the Rolling Hills LDS Chapel,
210 E. 1825 N. Centerville, UT. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at 11:00 am at the same location, preceded by a viewing at 9:00-10:45 am. A burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 Lakeview Dr, Bountiful, UT.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Saundra Buys and her team at Huntsman Cancer Hospital for their wonderful care of our mother over the years. And a special note of gratitude to CNS hospice care nurse Laura and social worker Melina for their tremendous dedication to our mother in the last moments of her life.
In lieu of flowers please donate to LDS Humanitarian Fund.
