Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, George W. Naylor passed away on February 23, 2014 in Mesa, AZ. George was born on May 11, 1941 to Harold “Hank” W. Naylor and Althera S. “Sue” Shaw in Salt Lake City. George graduated from Highland High School in 1959 and married his high school sweetheart Carolee Williams on June 2, 1961.
George served 2 years in the U.S. Army, then retired in 2002 as Superintendent at Kennecott Copper Mine after working there for 43 years. He was known by his family and friends to have a quick wit and always tried to make everyone laugh. He loved to cook and was an excellent one! His recipes live on with his family. Over the last few years, he enjoyed having his son cook for him. George’s love, laughter and cooking will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Carolee. They had two children, George William Naylor Jr. and Holly Diane Davidson. He then married Jeannette S. Weese of Salt Lake City on September 27, 1997. She has two children, Virginia Anne Weese and Michel Glen Weese. Together with his and her childeren they made a family.
George and Jeannette moved to Mesa, AZ in 2009 to enjoy his retirement and be close to his son and family. He is survived by his wife Jeannette Naylor (Mesa, AZ), his son George William Naylor Jr. (Shelley) of (Mesa, AZ), daughter Holly Diane Davidson (Salt Lake City), Virginia Anne Weese (Salt Lake City), Michel Weese (Mesa, AZ) and 8 grandkids: Chelsey, William, Jase, Carlee, Jessie, Abi, Alex and Nikki. He is also survived by his sister Marlene (Glade) Larsen (Salt Lake City) and sister Carol Ann (Robbie) Palmer (Salt Lake City), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Salt Lake City, at 11:00 AM with a viewing one hour prior to services. A viewing will also be held Monday, March 3, 2014 from 6:00- 8:00 PM at Deseret Mortuary. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.
