George Maxwell

March 21, 1924 — January 14, 2014

George McCann Maxwell, Jr. our amazing husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on January 14, 2014 in his home. George was born on March 21, 1924 to George M. and Jessie Maxwell in Springville, Utah, where he grew up with one sister and one brother. Most of his childhood was spent in Preston Idaho. George served honorably in the Army in World War II. When he returned to Preston it was there that he met the love of his life, and eternal companion Charlotte Christensen. George and Charlotte just celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary.
George graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in accounting. George and Char resided in Salt Lake City, where they raised four children. George was a dedicated employee for the Newspaper Agency Corp where he retired after 37 years.
George and Char spent many fun years as Snowbirds in Sunny Tucson, Arizona. He had a deep love for the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. He served in many callings, but his favorite was to teach the Gospel Doctrine Class.
Other favorite things were spending time with his family, horseback riding, playing cards, camping, going to swap meets, fishing, and you could always catch George three times a week pumping iron at the gym with his sons.
George is survived by: his wife Charlotte; children, Vickie Boone (Michael), Scott Maxwell, David Maxwell (Sherry); grandchildren, Matthew Maxwell, Todd Maxwell, Stacia Hoecherl, Stephanie Scribner, Jared Boone, Jessica Maxwell; nine great grandchildren; honorary daughters, Kim Barnett and Vicki Gray; brother Gordon Maxwell. Preceded in death by: his son Steven Maxwell; parents, George and Jessie Maxwell; sister Carol Henderson.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, 12 noon at the Winder 5th Ward (1361 East 4000 South) SLC, UT.
