George Manos

December 3, 1926 — October 17, 2013

George N. Manos, beloved father, papou, and friend passed away peacefully in the arms of his son-in-law Andy Pazell. George was born in Kalo Gerais, Greece on December 3, 1926. He was a veteran of World War II in the Greek army, and worked as a shoe cobbler before immigrating to America in 1951. After settling in Illinois with his maternal aunt and uncle he met the love of his life, Alexandria Petros. They were married on November 11, 1951. They raised their three children; Panayota (Patty), Christos, and Nikolette (Niki) in DeKalb. George was a well-known restaurateur in Illinois. After his retirement, George and Alex eventually settled in Utah to be near his daughter Niki and her family.
He is proceeded in death by his loving wife Alexandria, parents Nicholaos and Konstandina, brother Panagioti, two sisters Georgia and Evdokia, his uncle and aunt Christos and Panagiota Manos, and several nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his children Panayota (Vasili) Keramidis, Loveland, Co; Christos Manos, Piercy, Ca.; and, Niki (Andy) Pazell, Sandy, Utah. Grandchildren, Anastasis and George Keramidis, Jessica and Alexander Manos, and Alexa and Nickolas Pazell. Great grandchildren, Kalyca and Nico Keramidis and Vasili, Liam, and Lydia Keramidis. The family would like to extend their thanks to Sandy Regional, One Care Hospice, Fathers Michael Kouremetis and Elias Koucos for the care and spiritual support they provided George and his family.
He will be buried alongside his wife in DeKalb, IL. Memorial services will be held October 25 from 5:00-7:00pm at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, IL, with a Trisagion prayer service at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Saturday October 26, at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in DeKalb, Officiated by Fr. John Artemas.
