Genene Ann Fowler Chamberlain

February 2, 1944 — November 23, 2021

Our dear wife, mother, and grandmother, Genene, age 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday November 23, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer. Genene Ann Fowler Chamberlain was born in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, February 2, 1944. She was the oldest of the six children of Clyde Walter Fowler and Lois Hortense Thorup.
Genene graduated from Granite High School in 1962. She then worked as a secretary at the IRS, where she met the love of her life and her eternal companion, Ernest Martin Chamberlain, Jr. They were married in the Manti Temple on April 12, 1963 and together they raised a son and five daughters.
She tirelessly supported her husband in his education and career while providing an unforgettable childhood, filled with cherished memories, for her children. Genene and Martin created a home where all who entered felt safe, accepted, and loved. She devoted her life to service and consistently placed the needs of others above herself. Her commitment extended to the life beyond as she considered it her mission to help facilitate genealogy work across the world. In addition to working on her own genealogy, she volunteered full time for years to index literally millions of names.
Genene was truly a woman without guile. She approached everyone she met with complete authenticity and empathy, without any regard for their position, power, or status. She maintained this admirable quality to the end, lifting and inspiring the very people who were caring for her as her illness progressed. Many have described her as an angel on earth.
She is survived by her husband, Martin, and her six children: Debra (Bruce), Vicky (Nasib), Martin III (Heather), Sandra (Craig), Sheri (James), and Lisa (Shane). She leaves a legacy of unconditional love for her 30 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three sisters: Lana (Alan) Richardson, Susan (Lyman) Smith, and Deanne (Joe) Flurer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Betty, her brother, Clyde, 3 granddaughters and 1 great-grandson.
