Gary Reese Vance, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Died, February 25th 2024 in Salt Lake City Utah, at the age of 88 years. He was born on May 15th 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clarence Reese and Iola Vance. He was married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, to Eivor Marianne Vance on June 22, 1961.
After high school Gary played the saxophone in the 23rd Army band and in latter years would play Opera and marching band music while working in the yard, much to the chagrin of his children. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1958, with a master's in Business Administration and after served a mission to Sweden where he met his loving wife. For 20 years he and Marianne renovated houses and apartments together. and served many callings within the Church of Jesus. Christ of Latter-day, Saints, including 4 missions with his eternal companion. Ended his career as CFO and Comptroller for First Security Corporation after 24 years of service Took his family on many memorable family trips and traveled the world with his loving wife. He was a friend to nature and always made sure the neighborhood birds and squirrels were well fed. Loved spending time sitting and working in the "North Forty"
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Vance; children: Monica Bostrom (Kevin), Denise Vance, Michael Vance (Keri), Candice Larm (Michael), Christofer Vance (Esther); 13 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Reese and Iola Vance and his grandchild Christopher Elias Vance II (CJ).
Funeral services will be held on March 1st. At 11 AM, with a viewing at 10:00 to 10:45 AM, in the Cottonwood 1st Ward (5913 South Highland Drive). Viewing at the church on February 29th from 6-8 PM. Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View cemetery 3115 Bengal Blvd.
