Gary Van Patten

January 1, 1946 — January 24, 2015

Our sweet Husband, Father and Grandpa passed away on January 24, 2015. Our hearts are full of gratitude for the time we were allowed to have together. It seems that you taught us everything we love to do as a family. You will be in our hearts and thoughts with every John Denver song played, every fish caught and every night spent camping under the stars. We love you and miss you terribly.
Gary Van Patten was born January 1, 1946 to Bula Albrecht & Eldon Lynn Van Patten in Salt Lake City, Utah and was raised by Bula and his loving stepfather, Charles Hoffman. He married Karen McOmber on July 7, 1966. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 49 wonderful years together. Her greatest gift from him was the wonderful family they shared together. He was a humble example of persevering without complaint throughout his life, and especially in his last years as he struggled with his health.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children Richard, Julie (Nate) Meese, Michael (Olya), and Jeanette (Todd) Pixton and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Bluffdale 8th Ward, 15040 S. Mountainside Dr., Bluffdale at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing Tuesday evening Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S. Highland Drive, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church. A breakfast for family and close friends will be held at the church at 9:00 a.m., on Wednesday. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park. Memories may be shared at www.holladaycottonwoodmortuary.com
