Gary Hake

August 20, 1940 — March 2, 2018

Gary Lee Hake passed away into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father after being on hospice for 5 weeks. Gary was born in York, Pennsylvania to Helen and Marlyn Dellinger.  He had two sisters and one brother Judy, Sandra, and Butch. Gary met the love of his life Gloria Weaver in York, PA. He was friends with her brother Pete. He married her on March 21st, 1959. While living in York, they had 4 children. They moved to Utah in 1969 where they joined the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 10th, 1975 . They had 3 more children after they moved to Utah. Later on they adopted two of their grandsons and they were still raising one of them at the time of Gary’s death. He loved his children and especially all of his grandchildren. Gary and Gloria were foster parents for 26 years and had 50+ foster children many of whom still stay in touch and are loved like they were born into this family. We would love to name each and everyone of them but there are way too many to name on here.
Gary was a salesman for the majority of his life. He was so proud to tell everyone about it and how he made his living selling rags. It was always a conversation starter. When he retired, he was working for Rowtac Inc.
Gary loved traveling with his family. In his last 10 years, they traveled to several places, mostly amusement parks with Casey and Ceasar. Gary was a quiet man for the most part with a sweet, soft, smile and maybe that is why kids were always drawn to him. He always loved holding babies and playing with all of his grandkids. In most pictures we found of him with grandkids, he was on the ground playing with them.
Gary is survived by 8 children; Gary Hake Jr(Lorna), Tina Schroyer (Richard), Michelle Hake-Vence, Lynette Harvey(Erik), Angie Hake, Barbara Hake, Casey Hake, and Ceasar Hake.
He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many, many foster children and their children.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother Butch, son Greg Allen Hake, son Terry Goshorn, son-in-law Roberto Vence, and Glenda Hurlburt.
We would like to take a moment to thank Midas Creek Hospice and all of their employees, eespecially Gary’s nurse Tia and his aide Elysha. They took such great care of him and treated him so kindly and lovingly. We will be forever grateful for their kindness during our time of need and even afterwards.
Thank you to everyone who helped and offered prayers for us in this last month, we are eternally grateful.
