Gail Lynn Hansen

Gail Lynn Hansen, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was called home to her Heavenly Father on March 28, 2024, at the age of 69.  Born on July 6, 1954, Gail was the epitome of perseverance, kindness, and devotion throughout her life. Devoting herself to both her faith and her family, she left an enduring impression on everyone who crossed her path.

Gail’s unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gail served multiple callings within the church.  Her commitment to these callings presented an opportunity to serve her community as well as an opportunity to grow her faith. This faith was not only evident in her service but also in the way she lived her life with love, strength, and kindness.

Beyond her spiritual endeavors, Gail was a woman of many talents. Her green thumb and love for gardening transformed her surroundings into sanctuaries of beauty and tranquility. To her, an untouched patch of soil was simply a garden waiting to happen. She passed on her love for gardening to her children, creating a legacy of planting and crafting landscapes.

Gail's love for music represented yet another dimension of her vibrant personality.  Proficient in various instruments, she adeptly mastered each one that she encountered. Nonetheless, her heart belonged to the violin. Even as playing became challenging, Gail remained immersed in music, seizing every chance she could to spread her musical ardor to those around her.

Gail's greatest source of pride and joy was her family. She was a devoted wife who supported her husband through the good times and the bad,  and a nurturing mother who instilled values of love, determination, and faith in her children. As a grandmother, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and creating cherished memories that they will always treasure.

Gail Lynn Hansen leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the world we inhabit. She is survived by her loving husband, David Leon Hansen, and her children: Crystal Young (Travis), Jeffery Hansen (Kimberly), Precindia Parks (Kenneth), Jacob Hansen (Heidi), and Tyler Hansen. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren: Bree Anna, Curtis, Naomi, Nyla, Kathryn, Cadence, Preston, Natalie, Caitlynn, Calvin, Saralynn, and Eve, as well as her siblings Marty (Gina) and Rick. 

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Alta Alene Owens Griffin and Raymond Ritter Griffin; her sisters, Patricia Elmer, Del Ray Griffin, and Wendy Atwood; and her brother David Griffin.

A viewing for Gail will be held at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary at 6500 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville on April 3rd from 6:00-8:00 PM and on April 4th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wardhouse at 3120 West 4700 South, West Valley City from 9:30-10:45 AM . Services will begin on April 4th, after the viewing. Interment will follow at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary.

Gail Lynn Hansen will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love and faith will shine brightly in the lives she touched.
