Gail Curry Buckley

August 17, 1950 — May 5, 2018

Gail Curry Buckley passed away on Saturday May 5, 2018. Born to parents Harry and Alice Curry where grew up in Kearns, Utah. She attended Kearns High School where she met her husband James L. Buckley. He was there for a wrestling match and spotted her standing at her locker, he turned to his good friend Mike Farmer and said, “I’m going to date that girl!” Two weeks later they were inseparable. Just a few years later at the age of 21 she married Jim and moved to Hawaii where he was stationed in the Navy for a short time before planting their roots in West Jordan, Utah. They were blessed with two sons, James Ryan and Thomas Shane.
Gail was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandson, Bennett, was the “light of her life” and her little buddy. She was grateful every day for God’s creations that surrounded her. Be it her garden, flowers, every dog that came into her life, and nature itself. She cared for it all.
She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer the past 4 ½ years. Although it is very sad for all of us, it is also a time to celebrate her life and the wonderful example of kindness and love she was to all. She lived a full life and now the circle of her mortality is complete. The time has now come for her to reunite with her family that has preceded her in death: her husband James L. Buckley, her son Thomas Shane, and her parents Harry and Alice Curry.
Gail is survived by her son James Ryan Buckley, his wife Jenna, grandson Bennett, soon-to-be granddaughter “Ellie,” her partner Jim Gutierrez, his son Austin, his daughter Amanda, and his grandson Preston.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday May 9, 2018 at 2 pm with a viewing being held from 12-1:45pm at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations in Gail’s name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association.
