He is survived by four siblings, Phil, Yolande, Dean, and Carol. Dare spent his childhood years in Richfield and graduated from high school there. He graduated from Snow College in 1948 and afterward joined the Navy and studied at the US naval electronics school at Treasure Island, San Francisco. From 1950–1954 during the Korean War, Dare was stationed on the USS Manchester in the Pacific.

This job allowed him to travel throughout the Western United States and gave him a love a traveling that he shared with his loved ones throughout his life. Following his surveying work, Dare continued his education in electrical engineering at the University of Utah where he met to his lifelong sweetheart, Diane.  They were introduced by a mutual friend, Jay Daley, and in September 1957 just after Dare’s graduation, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Dare and Diane had two sons, Greg and Mark, and Dare was employed an engineer for 33 years at Sperry-Unisys, retiring in 1990.
Throughout his life, Dare shared his love of camping, hiking, and tennis with his sons and later his grandchildren. After retirement, he and Diane traveled together every year, taking a snowbird trip down to Arizona in the winter. Dare was an active member of the Salt Lake County Master Gardeners Association, and he and Diane enjoyed caring for their beautiful yard and garden in Holladay. He was an active member of the LDS church, serving in various scouting programs and later as financial clerk and financial auditor.
Dare was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife Diane, his two sons, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was a special presence in the lives of his family members. He always made time to support, love, and talk with each of his grandchildren, encouraging them to become all that they wanted to become.
