Fredrick Haley Wood

Fredrick Haley Wood, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away on September 23, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 30, 1936 to Haley Comet Wood and Sarah Ila Anderson. On October 18, 1963, Fred was sealed for time and all eternity to his sweetheart, Kathryn Harper, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Fred served with honor in the United States Marine Corps then graduated from the University of Utah in accounting. Although he worked for the University of Utah for 39 years, he was a BYU fan, thanks to the influence of his wife. Fred was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Northern States Mission. He also served as Bishop and on the High Council among many other callings.
Fred was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He also spent many years coaching little league baseball. Fred was happiest when he had a job to do. Even after retirement, Fred enjoyed his role as a crossing guard for the local elementary school.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bob, Geraldine, and Dave. He is survived by his brother, Bill; wife, Kathryn; Children: Julie Morton, Scott (Jana) Wood, Jill (Jared) Fitzwater, and Jeff (Diane) Wood; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the Hillview Ward located at 1361 East 4000 South, Salt Lake City, with a viewing Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Memorial Holladay~Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive; and 1 hour prior to funeral services at the Hillview Ward. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Huntsman Cancer Institute. On-line condolences may be shared at www.memorialutah.com
