Our Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, Fredrick Walter Gardner Jr. joined his eternal companion, Joyce Neil Gardner, on January 3, 2014. Fredrick and Joyce were married May 20, 1948 and later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 12, 1959. Born in Bloomfield, New Mexico on May 14, 1927. He is the son of Fredrick Walter Gardner Sr. and Olive Marble Gardner. He married Evelyn Nixon Orchard on February 13, 1993.
Fredrick accomplished many wonderful things during his life. He was an avid and accomplished swimmer, swimming instructor, hunter, and fisherman. His true passion was being a gunsmith. He served many years and blessed many lives as a Scout Master and temple worker. He is a Veteran of the Navy, National Guard, Army Air Corps, and retired from Tooele Army Depot.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fredrick Walter Gardner Sr. and Olive Marble Gardner, wife Joyce Neil Gardner, 1 sister, 5 brothers, and 2 Grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years Evelyn Nixon Gardner, children, Mike (Kathy) Gardner, Vicki (Dan) Ivie, Susan (James) Piggott, Stuart (Leslie) Gardner, Frances (Mark) Lay, Charles Gardner, Lori (Jeff) Payne, Steve (Kandis) Orchard, Annie (Kelly) Earley, Michelle (Aaron) Wilcox, and Russ (Jenny) Orchard. Sisters Orva and Kathy, Brothers George, Jimmy, Delano, Delon, and David. 52 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dignity Hospice and assisted Living of Draper for the loving care they gave Fredrick.
There will be a viewing Tuesday January 7th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary 6500 So. Redwood Rd. Funeral will be Wednesday January 8th at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 10168 So. 1100 W. South Jordan, Utah.
