Frederick “Rick” Ernest Rose

April 20, 1944 — December 23, 2020

In Loving Memory 1944 ~ 2020
Rick (don’t call me Frederick, that was my dad), passed away quietly in the early morning hours December 23, 2020 of melanoma cancer, surrounded by the family he loved. He was born April 20, 1944 in Sugarhouse to Frederick Ernest Rose, Sr. and Leah Hoggan Rose. He is survived by his wife Linda, daughters Allyson/Daron Cameron and Meredith/Scott Palfreyman, and five grandchildren that he adored, Ben and Nick and Hannah Cameron and Sam and Jack Palfreyman.
Rick attended Highland High School and graduated in 1962, and gained an education at the University of Utah and LDS Business College. His career was with Campbell Soup Company, from which he retired after 35 years as a District Sales Manager. He loved his job and especially the people he worked with Rick had a great love of people and serving others. He volunteered, and worked with the children at Shriener’s Hospital, the Red Cross, and served on the Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission. He served two service missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He loved watching his grandchildren playing sports of all varieties, and was a huge University of Utah fan, and a member of the Crimson Club for over 45 years.
He had a passion for gardening, and his yard was the envy of the neighborhood. His other great passion was people whom he knew and whom he could get to know. Rick’s talent was being a friend to everyone. He loved to talk to people, and it didn’t matter if they were a friend or stranger. He never forgot a name or face. He made friends wherever he went.
“God Directs our paths in life,
the places we will go,
the many ways our lives are changed
by everyone we know . . .
And sometimes He provides
for us a very special friend,
whose love and understanding
know no limits, knows no end.”
He was an active member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many wonderful callings throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Julianne and Brother Bob Rose.
