Frederick H. Peck

October 29, 1930 — April 9, 2022

Frederick H. Peck passed away peacefully on April 9, 2022. He was born in Lake Breeze, Utah on October 29, 1930, to Frederick H. Peck, Jr. and Helen Livesey Peck. He married Janice Olson in the Salt Lake Temple on June 9, 1954. Shortly after their marriage, he reported for active military duty at Fort Ord, California and from there shipped out to Germany where he was in charge of the motor pool at a mobile field hospital. Janice joined him in Germany, and they spent his leave traveling all over Europe. Upon his discharge from the Army, he enrolled at the University of Utah, graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He was employed by Cannon and Mullen Architects for a number of years and then started Peck and Jacobsen Architects, where he worked until he retired. The major focus of his professional work was to design and oversee the construction of many meetinghouses for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout Utah and Wyoming.
His mission to Mexico in 1950 began a lifetime of service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He willingly served in several capacities, including bishop of the Cannon 6th Ward in Salt Lake City. He had fond memories of serving with his wife as missionaries in the Dallas Texas Temple. Upon their return, they continued their temple service in the Salt Lake Temple.
Fred was a self-sufficient man. He could fix just about anything around the house, raised a large vegetable garden while his children were young and demonstrated an amazing work ethic in all he did. The family looked forward to camping during the summers and evening drives that often included ice cream cones. He loved to pick out and decorate the Christmas tree each year, placing icicles precisely on the branches. He was fun-loving, giving all his children nicknames that he used well into their adulthood and spent countless hours playing kickball and boardgames with them.
Fred enjoyed travel. He and Janice made many trips to Mexico while their children were young.  After retiring, they loved to visit Hawaii, cruised many times to various locations and looked forward to their St. George time share weeks. Later in life, Fred loved fishing in Alaska. He returned from a trip with his sons last September, and immediately booked another for this summer. He was truly a devoted husband, loving father and disciple of Christ.
He is survived by his children Janilyn (Joseph) Osborn, Marcia Peck, Corinne Johnson, Allesen Peck, Kyle Peck, Spencer (Nicholeen) Peck, Lynette Peck, 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and his sister Laurie Perez.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, sisters Thayle Banks and Sharon Beebe and one granddaughter, Alissa Thomas.
