Fred Tetsukazu Miyake, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2017. Born December 29, 1925 in Palms, CA to Harry Ichitaro and Shizuye Okuno Miyake. He was raised in Beryl, UT. The family moved to Kemmerer, WY where he worked at their family’s business, Kemmerer Union Laundry & Dry Cleaners. During WWII he served in Europe with the 442 Regimental Combat Team. Married Natsue Nancy Takenaka on September 13, 1953 in Salt Lake City. They had two daughters, Gloria and Jean. He worked many years for Auerbach’s Department Store and later worked for and retired from The Travelers Insurance Company. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Jean (Billy) Marquez; grandchildren, JoAnn (Dominic) Poulos, Alex (Valerie) Marquez; great grandchildren, Xander, Mia Marquez; siblings, Helen Nakahara; George (Carol), Paul, Donald, Henry, Robert (Akiko) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gloria; siblings, Rose, Leo and Margie. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Memorial Deseret Mortuary, 36 E 700 S, SLC, UT 84111. Fred will be interred on Saturday, December 2, 2017, in a private family ceremony at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. He requested no Koden.
