Salt Lake City, UT—Fred passed away April 18, 2014 after a long illness. He was born March 25, 1933 in Denver, Colorado to Fred A. Sr., and Mina Kessinger. He attended school in Denver and graduated from North High School in 1951. His favorite interest was his amateur radio, he carried that knowledge into the Coast Guard where he was a radioman aboard his ship from 1951 to 1954 when he was honorably discharged. He worked for a small sound system business before going to work for Western Electric. Married his wife, Barbara, January 2, 1956 in Raton, New Mexico. They lived in Denver before being transferred to Salt Lake City in 1962, where he continued to work for Western Electric and the phone company for 33 years, retired, and worked for EFI Electronics for 10 years- then worked for K-Mart as a part-timer for 5 years. He coached Brighton little league football for 13 years. Enjoyed working with the Pee Wees and always referred to them as “men” instead of boys. He also umpired baseball for many years. Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter Terry (Monte) Kartchner, son Tim (Gina), and daughter Sandra (Steve) Hall; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, all living in Salt Lake City; one sister in Denver, Colorado, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and younger brother. The family thanks everyone at Holladay Healthcare Center for all their loving care and tenderness given during his stay. You are all great people and we appreciate each and every one of you. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Mountain View Memorial (3115 E 7800 S, Cottonwood Heights, UT), followed by a chapel service. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
