Fred “Freddyboy” Romero

November 17, 1944 — August 29, 2018

Fred “Freddyboy” Romero, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home on August 29th. Fred was born November 17, 1944 In Bingham Canyon to Jose and Perfecta Romero. He was the middle child of five. Fred grew up in Lark with an enterprising outlook; he would have friends commit to chopping wood for the fireplace and stove, since this was his daily chore, so he could play baseball with them.
He later graduated from Bingham High School. He knew at an early age he wanted to serve his country. When the opportunity came he enlisted in the Army. Due to health issues he was unable to remain in the service so he decided to serve others by working in the accounting profession. He went back to school and received an Associate’s degree in Accounting from Utah Technical College. He started his career working at a television station in the accounting department, then becoming an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. His desire to help others lead him to open his own business performing tax and payroll work.
Fred enjoyed life despite his physical challenges. He loved all things outdoors: golfing, fishing, deer hunting, baseball, basketball. His passion were his Corvettes. He was an audacious driver behind the wheel and anyone who was a passenger with Fred knew to buckle up.
He is survived by his wife René Macleod-Romero; daughters Lisa Cannell (David) and Stefanie Bair; step-daughters Regina Macleod-Cerda (Arturo) and Airelle Macleod; three wonderful grandchildren, Maci Hernandez, Sam and Elle Cannell; siblings Joe Romero (Alice), A. Eloy Romero, Shirley Martinez (Sixto) and Mary Beckstead Hanlon, and many nieces and nephews.
