Frank Raymond Yocom, age 86, passed away on December 11, 2022 at his home in West Jordan Ut. Ray was born June 8, 1936 in Salt lake City, Ut., to Frank and Nona Yocom, on the families kitchen table as the story goes. Ray had two younger brothers, David Yocom (Linda) Salt Lake and Richard Yocom (Karen) Lehi.
Ray graduated from Granite High School in Salt Lake in 1954. He played football and baseball all three years of high school. His senior year, he played football for Coach Lavell Edwards as the team’s quarterback. After high school, Ray attended Dixie Jr. College in St. George Utah, where he also played football and baseball. There he found the love of his life, Lou Mae Cottam. They were married in 1957 in the St. George LDS temple. After graduating from the Jr. college, they moved to Salt Lake for a short time and then to Reno, Nevada for seven years. Ray worked for Smith’s Food & Drug for 40 years. His positions were various supervisory roles. He greatly enjoyed his time at Smith’s, retiring in 2000.
Ray is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Nona Yocom, and his daughter Jana Yocom Cook. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lou Mae Yocom, daughter Lee Ann Williams (David), and son Barry Yocom (Judy). He has nine grandchildren; Ryan, Travis, Tyler, Brandon, Chad, Trent, Zachery, Alex, and Ashley, and ten great-grandchildren Shalece, Brayden, Mckinley, Parker, Avery, Kaden, Malia, Riley, Ellie, and Makenzie.
The funeral will be held on December 20, 2022 beginning at 11 AM. Services will be held at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, located at 3115 East 7800 South Cottonwood Heights, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service beginning at 10 AM.
