Frank Brown

Frank Arthur Brown passed away on Saturday May 10, 2014. Frank was born on January 26, 1929 in Salt Lake City to Willard C. & Beulah Smith Brown. He was the last survivor of his family having been preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He attended school in Salt Lake, graduating from Granite High in 1946. He married Jeanne Thygerson in 1949.
For the last 65 years he has lived in the Holladay area in the home that he built for his family.
Frank lived a life of service to his family, church and community. His career was that of a public servant. He was proud to be a firefighter for 30 years in the Salt Lake County Fire Department attaining the rank of Battalion Chief. His community service included being on the Holladay Community Council and involvement with the Sons of Utah Pioneers. He and his wife loved their involvement with this organization where he served as national president. He served as a ward clerk for 25 consecutive years. He was currently serving as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple which is something he enjoyed for the last 21 years.
Frank was an avid learner. He earned his associate degree from Salt Lake Community College in his forties. He had many hobbies that he loved to learn about and develop. Yearly family camping trips were special to him. He baited countless fishing hooks without complaint. His love of camping and the out of doors have been passed on to his children.
Frank is survived by Vicki (Cliff) Kelly, Susan (Sharon) Esplin, Doug (Jill) Brown, Brad Lee, son-in-law; Annette Turner, Kathryn (Kyle) Lowther. Preceded in death by his wife and daughter, Karen Lee. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren with 2 due in the fall.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Holladay 1st Ward, 2065 East 4675 South, at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may visit Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park. Condolences may shared with the family at www.holladaycottonwoodmortuary.com
