Francisca “Maria” Calderon Pagan

July 1, 1936 — June 23, 2020

Francisca C. Pagan lovingly known as Maria, passed away on June 23, 2020 in her home.  Born July 1st, 1936 in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico to Esteban Calderon and Gregoria Marrero.
Maria was the anchor for the family and a total joy to be around. She had a young sweet voice, loved to tell jokes, talk about how she was raised in the hills of Puerto Rico, adventurously came to Utah as a mail order bride and settled far, far away from her beloved island. She’d crochet intricate beautiful doilies of all sizes, loved to sew, clean and garden, and was very quick-witted. Maria was best known, to many, for her food. Yes, the girl could cook like no other. It could have been from all the love she poured into whatever she prepared. She’d offer her kindness and opened her home with loving arms if someone needed food or a place to sleep. Maria was a word of advice, a hope for tomorrow, a teller of tales, a vivacious laughter, keeper of secrets, a bright ray of sunshine, a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that loved unconditionally. A blessing to all of us. The most radiant and rarest of gems to behold, and she was ours. Maria was a precious soul that our heavenly father could no longer do without and took her into his loving arms.  In a blink of an eye, we will all be with her to rejoice in her gracious and loving company.  In the meantime, she will never be forgotten and ever so greatly missed.
Maria is survived by her daughter Lonny (Jon), grandchildren Samson, Kyle (Amanda), Melissa, Daniel (Emily) and youngest granddaughter Kandace, as well as Nicholas “Nick” (Gabi), Richard, Michelle, and Bryan Pagan.  Great-grandchildren Aliyanna, Mercedes, Angel, and Remy. Siblings Lola, Camila, Anna, Enrique, Abul, Felix, and Gregorio.
She is preceded in death by son Miguel Pagan, Parents and siblings Amelia, Catalina, Jose, Miguel, Clemente, and William.
