Francis Alton Morton

Francis Alton Morton “Big Mort”, age 88, passed away on March 6, 2020 surrounded by his family at his home in Murray, Utah. He was born on December 12, 1931 in Burns, Oregon to Ora James and Kate Lorena Morton. He married his sweetheart LaDean Draper on March 26, 1955.
Dad and mom were happily married for 63 years until her passing in 2018. He was always by her side giving her support in all things. He was always willing to help family, neighbors and friends. He loved working in his garage and found great joy in fixing and repairing anything. He served in the Korean War as a Corporal from 1951 – 1953 and received an honorable discharge. He was a true friend of the Scouting Program. He drove semi-trucks for 37 years and received numerous safety awards throughout his career.
He is survived by his son Steven Morton (Sherma), Mary Hansen (Steven), Frances Nieuwland (Michael), Sandra Wood (Todd), and sister Lois Knutson. He had 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Ora Morton, sisters Virginia Urie and Ruby Knutson.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM, both at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, 84123.
