Frances "Fran" Akimoto

Frances (Fran) Akimoto, 91, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  She was born on November 23, 1932 in Portland, Oregon to Mason and Genevive Akiyama and married Tomio Akimoto on Sept. 12, 1956.  

Fran was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend to many.  She worked as an executive secretary at the American Savings Bank for many years, followed by many more years of service to a number of local organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Ballet West, and Utah Symphony.   She and her late husband, Tomio, were active members of the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple. They were constantly helping others in whatever way they could; delivering food, visiting the sick and homebound. Fran loved to hand out candy and complements. She always had an elegant and graceful manner.   

Fran is survived by her sister, Joyce Wong; brother, Brent (Pat) Akiyama, nieces, Adrianne (Fred) Antonio and Michelle (Sean) Maskell, Sharon (David Rothstein) Akimoto, Kathy (Larry) Houle, Kimberly (Travis) Moss, nephews, Dennis (Gigi) Akimoto, Don Akimoto and Brett (Samantha) Akiyama.   

Viewing to be held at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S 900 E, Murray, UT 84121, on June 11, 2024, between the hours of 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at the SL Cemetery.
