Flora Jackson Bloom

January 8, 1937 — June 15, 2022

Our beautiful mother, Flora “Jeannie” Bloom, of Sandy, Utah, passed from this mortal existence to be with her sweetheart, Bradley Bloom on June 15, 2022.
Jeannie was raised on a farm in Jerome, Idaho where she learned an incredible work ethic that remained with her for the rest of her life.  She talked often about life on the farm, having to pump the water from the well, using an out-house, and the comfort of waking up to a warm stove on a cold Idaho morning. Whether picking potatoes in the fall or thinning the beats in the summer, it was her life on the farm that cultivated her lifelong love of gardening. On any given day, Jeannie could be found in her garden beds planting, pruning, and watering. It was the simple things in life that gave her joy.
Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and found great joy in serving others.  She loved welcoming new neighbors with a warm loaf of her homemade bread.  Ward members that were alone on the holidays were often treated to a hot meal delivered to their door. Always selfless, Jeannie put the needs of others before her own.
Mom had a keen sense of humor and was a consummate prankster. Mom delighted in hiding on the side of the house to scare unsuspecting trick or treaters while wearing her favorite wicked witch costume. Serving her family chocolate brownies frosted with Pepsodent toothpaste and wrapping toilet seats in Seran Wrap at girl’s camp were just a few of the tricks up her sleeve.
Mom always had a song in her heart and wasn’t afraid to sing out load with her own special creative liberties on the lyrics.
Mom took great pride in how serendipitous it was that a farm girl named Flora would come to marry and take the last name Bloom.
We will miss her example of her devotion to Heavenly Father and family and her fun-loving shenanigans.
Jeannie’s greatest joy was her husband Brad and their family. Family meant everything to them and they never turned down an opportunity to watch their grandkids play ball or perform.
Survived by her six children: Diana Chasten (Steve); Julie Teerlink (Dave); Becky Clark (Dave); Alycia LaFollette (Rob); Annie Lange (Mark); and Jeff Bloom.  15 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  Also survived by her sisters Donna Hathaway (Pete), Darlene Woodhead, and Beverly Adamson (Ron).
Preceded in death by her loving husband Bradley Bloom, her parents Delbert and Odetta Jackson and brothers Guy, Tom and Fred Jackson.
