Faye was born on July 25, 1916 in Layton, Utah to Earl Day and Olive Kilfoyle Robins. She grew up on the family farm in Kaysville, Utah and obtained a degree in Elementary Education at Utah State University. On March 14, 1941 she married her sweetheart Edgar M. Hayes in the Salt Lake Temple. After their service in WWII, they settled in Bountiful where they raised their sweet daughter, Mynon, and where Faye served as a favorite teacher at Tolman Elementary for over 30 years.
In their later years, Ed & Faye moved to Salt Lake City. They were both very active in the LDS Church and served in a variety of callings, including 17 years in service at the Salt Lake Temple. Faye pursued excellence in every aspect of her life. She was a fabulous cook, an accomplished seamstress, a talented artist, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her family has been blessed to have had her in their lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Mynon Elliott (Ross); sister, Marjory Mortenson; sister-in-law, Melba Thorne; grandchildren, Ed Elliott (Ashley), James Elliott (Nicole), and Rosann Smith (Matt); nine perfect great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
She is preceded in death by her eternal companion, Ed Hayes; her parents; and siblings Frank Robins (Mary), Dorothy Tolman (Dale).
The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Homestead Ward LDS chapel at 5615 South Vine Street in Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park in Bountiful, Utah.
