Faitotoa Lua Afatasi Sr.

February 14, 1941 — July 24, 2021

Our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather; Faitotoa Lua Afatasi Sr., (80 yrs old), of West Jordan, Utah, passed on July 24, 2021, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on February 14, 1941 in Tanugamanono, Samoa. His parents are Eneleta Asi and Lua Faitotoa Hunt. He is the 2nd oldest of 13 siblings. He married our beautiful queen, Ielino Keresoma on December 22, 1965 in Faleniu, American Samoa. He’s the world’s greatest Papa. To’a was a jack of all trades and had many talents. For most of his life he worked as a carpenter and painter. In his later years, he worked as a Walmart door greeter where he met and made many friends. He raised his family in San Francisco, CA and West Jordan, UT.
He enjoyed being with his family, singing, dancing, playing guitar and supporting his grandkids. He was the most selfless, compassionate, and humble and hard working man in our lives. Everything he did was out of love and with a smile. He was a strong member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For five years he served as a ward missionary leader and served in many other church callings throughout his life. Survived by: Children – Faitotoa Jr (Lita), Sese (Richard), Aloese, Eneleta, Esekia (Grace), Tagiilima (Lance), Mose (Lethe), Lua (Marnett). 36 grandchildren. 13 great-grandchildren. Siblings – Osona, Safuiono, Eneleta, Nimo and Faitoto’a.
Preceded in death by his wife, Ielino Keresoma Afatasi. His son Lua Afatasi. His siblings: Pisila, Lua, Sese, Pepe, Nina, Poasa, Mausali.
Services: Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Highland Stake Center, 10227 South 4000 West, South Jordan, UT 84095.
Family service: 9:00 AM
Bishop’s service: 12:00 PM
Burial: 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.
Thank you to all those who came and showed their love and respect, those who shared their memories of our dad & papa, the loving words of comfort, and the outpouring support we’ve received from all of our families and friends. From the Afatasi Family, we are so grateful.
Our Papa always said this & this is our family motto: “United we stand, divided we fall”. We will miss you Dad & Papa.
