Evelyn Taft Christensen

January 26, 1930 — January 17, 2019

Evelyn Taft Christensen, 88, returned home to her Heavenly Father on January 17, 2019, and is reunited with her eternal companion and husband, Donald T. Christensen.  Evelyn was born on January 26, 1930 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Ivan and Alda Lucinda Russell Taft.  Evelyn was the fifth of seven children.  She attended Salt Lake schools and married Don Christensen February 23, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They celebrated 68 years of marriage before her husband passed in 2017.
Evelyn and Don were blessed with four wonderful children: Shauna, Debby, Bryan, and Kayla. She loved being a homemaker, and her greatest enjoyment was in taking care of her family and home.  She worked hard to make sure everything was in order.  She took a special interest in her grandchildren and always greeted them with a hug and a treat.  She was very thoughtful in remembering and sending cards for other people’s special days, and she never failed to send a thank you card for any kindness shown her.
Evelyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She had an unwavering testimony and considered her religion and her family the greatest blessings in her life. Evelyn loved to read the scriptures and other church books, and often read these books more than once to glean everything she could from them.  She also attended the temple on a regular basis. Evelyn was interested in people, and never met a stranger.  She was always positive and able to find the silver lining in any cloud.
Evelyn is survived by daughter Debby (Rocky) Miller, son Bryan (Gayle) Christensen, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Don, and daughters Shauna (Ken) Williams, and Kayla (Bobby) Yakovitch. The family wishes to express thanks to the staff of Legacy House of Taylorsville, for their compassionate care and excellent service during the final years of Evelyn’s life.
