Evelyn Hawkins

Evelyn Hawkins, 86 years old, went home to her husband Lorin on January 17, 2024, in Riverton, Utah. She was born on September 18,1937 in Payson, Utah to Alta Huff Schoenfeld and Arthur Schoenfeld. 

She was raised in Payson on her family’s sheep farm, where in her own words, her childhood was “Great.” She developed her love for the outdoors and animals on that farm and carried that throughout her life. “I was never happier than when I was on a horse and outside.”  Evelyn attended Payson high school and graduated on May 27, 1955, and was crowned Miss Payson in 1956. 

On June 28, 1958, she married the love of her life Lorin Hawkins. She worked for Pioneer Dodge and the Larry H Miller Dealerships for over 35 years as an accounting Controller. Throughout her life she continued her love for the outdoors and animals with her beloved Lorin and two children, Lori and Brandon. In their hobbies of hiking, traveling, and shooting, they mostly loved raising, breeding, and showing German Shepards, 15 of which became dog show champions. She thoroughly enjoyed her work, hobbies, and her family. She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. We will miss her every day. 

She is survived by son, Brandon James Hawkins, daughter, Lori Allison Hawkins and 5 grandchildren: Ashley Hirschmann, Nicholle Hawkins, Emma Hawkins, Micah Hawkins, and Julianne Peck. 

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 25, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, with a viewing one hour prior to services. Interment will immediately follow services.
