Evelyn B Long

January 7, 2022 — October 6, 1935

EVELYN BURNETT LONG passed away January 7, 2022, in Tooele, Utah.

Evelyn was born October 6, 1935, in Ogden, Utah, to Joseph Henry Burnett and Martha Sarah Hart.  She lived her early years in Sunset, Utah until she moved to Salt Lake City in 1955.
Evelyn attended Davis County schools, graduating from Davis High in 1953.  She worked for the LDS Church and Utah School Boards Association until she moved to Falls Church, Virginia, where she worked for Performance Incorporated.  After returning to Salt Lake City, she started working at Workers Compensation Fund as an Executive Secretary until she retired in 2008.
Evelyn was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in many capacities throughout her life.  The church was a very important part of her life.
She was an elect lady and held many leadership positions, but loved her time serving in the Relief Society.  She loved the sisters she served with.
She married Darld James Long on August 3, 1984, and was later sealed in the Ogden Temple by her father, Joseph Henry Burnett.  With the marriage to Darld she acquired seven wonderful stepchildren.  Jill, (Greg) Gollaher; Joan, (Kenn) Rollins; Steven, (Patricia) Long; Sharon, (Mike) McCabe; Richard, (Elizabeth) Long; Ruth, (Gary) Kisner; and Lorna McCallum.  She was blessed with 28 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn has several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.  Evey, (as her niece’s and nephew’s called her) supported their families by attending bridal showers, baby showers, weddings, missionary farewells and homecomings and any family party.
She loved to travel and was able to travel to many countries with her friends where she once met Queen Elizabeth as well as Winston Churchill.
She loved to go shopping and having a new pair of shoes and matching handbag to go with every outfit.
Evelyn is survived by her brother-in-law, James Facer.  She was proceeded in death by her husband Darld, her parents, sister Ethel (Scott) Wiberg; brother Jack (Marlene) Burnett and sister Jayne Facer.
