Evan Glen Chesley

January 10, 1923 — March 10, 2017

Evan Glen Chesley, AKA Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Brother, or just friend, started his new journey on March 10th, 2017, returning to his Heavenly father, and his beloved wife.
Evan was born on January 10th 1923 in Gridley California. He grew up in Salt Lake City, and after graduating from West High, he enlisted in the Army to serve his country during WWII, fighting in the battle of the bulge. While serving in France, he was listed as missing in action, and later confirmed as a prisoner of war held in Stalag 11B in Hanover Germany. After 419 days of captivity, Evan was liberated by the British forces. After returning home, Evan met the love of his life Gwen Marcella Winn, and they were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple, and wasted no time building their family of seven children.
Evan was an outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, camping, and summiting mountains with his family. He was also a talented photographer capturing family, outdoors, and exotic locations on film.
He was active in the LDS church his whole life serving faithfully in many callings. He also loved his many years performing in roadshows, and singing with the Male Olympus Chorus.
Evan worked for the postal service, and after retiring, did not sit still for long. He followed another passion, travelling the country as a tour guide, followed by traveling the world while working for Murdock travel.
His common saying was very appropriate, “I’ve been there. I’ve done that”. Dad is now on to a new adventure.
Evan is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Gwen Chesley, his daughter Pamela Lee, and his son Richard Chesley. He is survived by his children: Dennis, Vie Campbell, Marion, Douglas & Randy.
