Eugene "Gene" Hardy, father, grandfather, outdoorsman, and US Army Veteran passed away on December 26, 2024, after a long battle with congestive heart failure.
Gene was born on March 28, 1936, in Wendell, Idaho, to Lynn and Elsie Hardy. Growing up in poverty, he learned the value of resilience and frugality, skills he carried with him throughout his life. His humble beginnings instilled a deep appreciation for life's opportunities and taught him to save for the moments that truly mattered.
Gene shared a remarkable life of adventure with his wife, Heidi, who preceded him in death just weeks earlier, on November 17, 2024. Together, they embraced life’s big events, from hunting safaris in Africa to exploring the world on more than 30 cruises.
An avid outdoorsman, Gene had a lifelong love of hunting, shooting sports, and fishing. Whether enjoying the thrill of the hunt or the serenity of casting a line, Gene found peace and purpose in nature.
Gene is survived by his son, Brian, his daughter-in-law, Jayme, and his two grandchildren, Erika and Everett, who will carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and adventure.
Gene’s laugh, determination, and passion for life will never be forgotten.
The family will hold a private service during the week of December 31st to honor Gene’s life.
Special thanks are extended to Auburn Crest Hospice, especially Jacque Parker, RN, as well as the dedicated caregivers at Ashford Assisted Living and Memory Care, for their compassionate support during Gene’s final years.
