Etta Ragner

August 20, 1920 — September 20, 2017

On the morning of September 20, 2017 the world lost some of its sparkle as Etta L. Ragner, 97 years, passed away peacefully in Sandy, Utah. She was born on August 20, 1920 in Silver City, Utah to George Richard Eatough and Violet Yeates. She was the youngest of four and the apple of her father’s eye. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from South High School. She married Ward C. Ragner on January 26th, 1941. They were married for 57 years before Ward passed away.  Together they had 5 beautiful children, losing one shortly after birth.
Etta spent many years working with electronics for Univac until her retirement.
She spent many years building a treasured Summer Home by hand with her husband and family up in the High Uinta’s.  Etta loved to explore these beautiful mountains hiking and spending precious moments with her family.
She enjoyed the great outdoors with many camping trips.   She traveled most of the United States.   Etta also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, sewing, quilting, cross-stich and many crafts. The fruits of her labor were enjoyed by the whole family, every year as they would get together and can tomatoes, peaches, pears, etc.
Most of all she loved to be surrounded by her family. Every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve her home was filled beyond capacity with all of her family and friends. She would spend days decorating, baking and cooking to make sure that this one night was filled with love, joy and magic. She was a fantastic cook and instilled a love of cooking in all.
Etta loved her family, always putting them first. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten.  She will be remembered for her spunky personality, quick wit, love for all, and compassion for others.
She is survived by her children Ward C. Ragner Jr. (Kathy), Ruth Worrall, Susan Lindgren (Scott), Steven Ragner (Wendy) and many beloved grandchildren,   great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ward C. Ragner Sr. on July 14, 1998.
