Ethelyn Grane

February 7, 1918 — September 1, 2014

Ethelyn Christensen Grane, 96, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2014 in Erda, Utah. She was born in Kanosh, Utah on February, 7, 1918 to James Franklin Christensen and Helen Alice Nadauld. She married Reginald Bennett Grane on February 6, 1937. They met in Kanosh, Utah where he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. Together they had 4 beautiful children.
Some of the many talents of Ethelyn were her abilities to paint portraits for friends and family, create porcelain dolls, and sculpting in clay, until she lost her eyesight. She was an accomplished seamstress and gardener. She and her husband Reg were active members of the LDS Church, where they served in many capacities as well as a mission together in Acapulco, Mexico. They served together for many years in the Salt Lake Temple and the Jordan River Temple. She was very proud of her pioneer heritage where she taught her kids about her grandmother and her love for the rocks collected on her journey across the plains. Her true passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. They loved camping in the desert, fishing and boating and just being together.
She is survived by her 3 loving children Patricia Anne (Stan) Schoenfeld, Michael Frank Grane and Michelle Marie Erekson; grandchildren Debbie (Gary) Dazley, Chris (Scott) Gudmundsen, Lori (Jared) Stucki, Tami (Jim) Morton, Jeff (Deene) Tripp, Christian (Nichole) Grane, Maren Grane, Stephen (Lisa) Erekson, Jim (Nancy) Erekson, Jennifer (Jed) Knudsen, Eric (Sallie) Erekson and Randy Grane; great grandchildren Justin (Rachael) Dazely, Lisa (Brad) Bollwinkel, Heather (Chris) Maile, Ashley Gudmundsen, Trevor Gudmundsen, Mariko (Lance) Homer, Dani (Juan) Giron, Michael (Chelsie) Stucki, Emi (Cory) Huntsman, Tyler Stucki, Jamie Morton, Brandon (Ariel) Morton, Preston Tripp, MalohiToa Tripp, MaileHevani Tripp, Ashley Grane, Joseph Grane, Phoebe Grane, Jordyn Grane, Jett Grane, Christina (Chris) Bowler, Amberlea Erekson, Sara Erekson, John Erekson, Laura Erekson, William Erekson, Joseph Erekson, Bela Erekson, Alma Erekson, Pearl Erekson, Lille Knudsen, Olivia Knudsen, Mabra Knudsen, Dane Knudsen, Jack Knudsen, Jessie Erekson, Aigen Erekson, Charlie Erekson, Jonah Grane, and Ezra Grane; great great grandchildren Ashlyn Dazley, Abby Dazley, Bennett Dazley, James Dazley, Anna Bollwinkel, Jonas Bollwinkel, Harvey Bollwinkel, Sonora Homer, Esme Homer, Isla Homer, Jessie Giron, Mike Giron, Bennett Giron, Beck Giron, Cody Huntsman, Bo Huntsman, Ryley Huntsman, Marley Grane and George Bowler; sister Jeanne Bushnell and “adopted” granddaughter Agnel (David) Bartholomew and their children Briana, David, Melinda and Tyler; former son-in-law Gordon (Beth) Tripp. Preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, son Roger Lund Grane, 2 brothers LaMar (Beulah) and Leavitt (Rula) Christensen, sisters Fern Johnson and Jessie (Ezra) Taylor, son-in-law Alma John Erekson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E. 7800 S. with a viewing from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment at the Mountain View Cemetery.
