Ethel Mae Apgood

Ethel Mae was born on September 27, 1930 to Archibald and Ethel Skinner. She was married on May 3, 1954 to Wayne E. Apgood. Ethel was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Childcare provider, friend, and neighbor. She devoted her life to caring for others and expected nothing in return. She started her caretaking career at the age of 16 in Idaho helping a mother with polio. When she and her husband moved to Utah, she continued to care for dozens of other children in her home for over 30 years. She was an active participant in her local ward as a primary teacher and a visiting teacher. In her spare time, she loved listening to Country Music, cross stitching, puzzling, watching The Price is Right (i.e., Bob Barker), playing cards, and taking road trips with her family.

Ethel raised a beautiful family in a home that was built by her husband in Murray, UT. There was nothing that she wouldn’t do for her family. We were blessed with her patience, love, and laughter for 94 years, and those traits will continue to live on through us all.

Ethel passed away at the age of 94 on December 24, 2024 in Murray, Utah.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Erickson (Johnny); her son, David Apgood (Angie); five grandchildren, Jessica Barnett (Kevin), Lorin, Haily, Ashley, and Shayne; and three great-grandchildren, Zyra, Sierra, and Lily.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, and husband.

Funeral services will be held on January 4, 2025, at Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 S State St, Sandy, UT 84070.

Viewing: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Memorial Service: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Interment: 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT 84092.
