Esther Jane Taylor Johnson
1923-2014
Esther passed from this world at age 90 from natural cause, January 15, 2014. Born April 1, 1923 to Roy Meredith and Olive Jane Bourne Taylor. Esther lived a full and wonderful life in Rose Park, Utah.
Esther was born into a life of gardening and her yard and flowers were a great source of pride for her family. Extremely adept at quilting, Esther enjoyed the Rose Park Quilters Guild for decades and her handiwork has been often displayed and generously donated. Most dear were the girls of her childhood that met devotedly for over six decades. “Club” was an extended family of cherished friends. She was employed by the Salt Lake City school district for many years but her true job was being a wonderful mother to her children. Esther stitched together pieces of life that embroidered a home and produced a quilt of warmth that defines a family.
Esther is preceded by Wesley Alton Johnson, loving husband of 49 years. She is survived by all of her children: Jerry (Dena), Scott, Kent (Linda), Marci (Bryan) Burk, & twins Lowell (Diane) and Lori Asay; adoring grandchildren Lindsey, Zach, Nathan, Tyler, Billy, Wesley, and Katy; great-grandchildren Paisley, Taggart, and Owen; surviving brothers are Roy Lynn and Dean Taylor. Preceded by sisters Peggy Andreasen and Dawna Bergstrom.
The family would like to acknowledge Millcreek Home Health Care, especially Cassandra, and Carrington Court for their support, empathy, and professional courtesy. Our neighbor, Jim Cameron has been a true guardian of Esther for many years and his friendship is cherished and remarkable.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road, with a viewing one hour prior.
