Esther Gomez

Esther Mary Gomez was born on May 13, 1929 to Sam Rendon and Minnie Martinez in Durango, Colorado. She passed away peacefully at her home on November 1, 2014. Esther was a devout Baptist. She enjoyed going to church and was a popular member of the congregation. Esther had a very outgoing personality and was liked by all who came into her presence. She loved spending time with her family and she loved when visitors would stop by her home. Esther was a gracious host always offering food and refreshments to her visitors.
Esther worked at the University of Utah in the housekeeping department for many years. She was adored and respected by her students and they were very sad when she retired. Esther was a great cook. Her rice dishes were always requested at family and church gatherings. She took pride in the many complements she received about her cooking.
Esther is survived by five of her eight children: son Fernando (Junior), daughters Ellie, Nydia, Pauline and Gloria. And survived by sisters Jenny and May. Preceded in death by her parents, and children Carmen, Tony and Sam. Also preceded in death by her siblings Johnny, Margie, Leo, Freddy, Lena, and Virginia. She also had many grandchildren and great grand children whom she loved so very much.
A viewing will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive Holladay, Utah 84117. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive Holladay, Utah 84117. Graveside service will be held immediately afterwards at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 Memory Lane Holladay, Utah 84117.
We love you and we will miss you so very much. You will be forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace.
