Ernest Erich Wolfert died peacefully in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 21, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born on March 28, 1930 in Bolko, Oppeln, Schlesien, Prussia, Germany to Gottlieb Wolfert and Martha Wanda Sterzik Wolfert. In 1951 at the age of 21 he was the first of his family to investigate and join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most of his family later joined, including his father and mother. He emigrated to the United States in 1953, meeting his eternal sweetheart, Ruth Ingeborg Adler Wolfert at a meeting of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They were married on September 3, 1955. He served two years in the US Army, stationed at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. Ernest became a general contractor, building over 100 custom homes. He and Ruth served two missions together for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one in New Zealand and another in Independence, Missouri. He also served as a guide on Temple Square in Salt Lake City for 7 years. Ernest was an ardent student of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and of Church History. He loved The Book of Mormon. He often bore testimony to his children and grandchildren of his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ernest is survived by his wife Ruth of 65 years, children, Mark (Carol), Annette Harkness (Wallace), Trent (Cindi), and Alex Campbell (Bob), and by 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Hanna Borcherding and his brother, Guenter Wolfert.
A family-only funeral service will be held in Sandy.
