Eris Jane Felt Kirby, 86, passed away April 12, 2021, in Salt Lake City, Utah, of causes incident to age. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion Robert “Bob” Kirby, in 2020.
She is survived by her children Robert Jr. (Irene), DeAnn (Randy) Eves, Denise, and Ronald (Linda), 13 grandchildren, innumerable great-grandchildren, and her sisters Clarice (Richard) Bailie, Sacramento, Calif. and Lygia Fay Massey, Ogden, Utah.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lela Elvira, brother Nathaniel Henry, and her son Charles Don Kirby.
Eris was born May 15, 1934, in Mayfield, Utah, to Charles Enoch and Emma Pearl (Willden) Felt. The family later moved to Fontana, California, where Eris met her future husband.
She graduated from Chaffey High School, Ontario, California, in 1952. After her marriage the following year, she and her military husband dragged their off-spring across the face of the earth, eventually settling in Salt Lake City, where Bob retired.
Eris then began a career of her own, working as a medical librarian for the Veterans Administration in Salt Lake City, Wyoming, Kansas, and Missouri.
With her husband, Eris served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Texas and Guatemala. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her family, ceramics, and raising pet tarantulas.
The family is grateful to the staff at Sagewood Retirement Center at Daybreak for their wonderful care of Eris in her final days.
A celebration of Eris’s life will be held Saturday, April 24, from 10-11 a.m. at the Hidden Oaks LDS ward house, 11755 So. 2000 East, Sandy, Utah, 84092.Service Information
