On January 2, 2018, Erika Kroes Szymoszowsky, age 78, passed away to rejoin her Heavenly Father, her husband, Wasyl Szymoszowsky, and many loved ones. Erika is survived by her daughter, Angelika and son-in-law Scott Paxman, six grandchildren; Chelsie Potter (Clint), Christopher Paxman (Kellie Coats), Tara Williams (Cameron), Alicia Hales (Griffin), Marissa Paxman and Derek Paxman, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Edith Fiedler (Horst), Ursula Worm (Wulf), and Wilhem Kroes (Sigrid).
Erika was born February 6, 1939, in Bunde, Germany. At age 18, she went to Scotland and there met and married a handsome Ukrainian, Wasyl. Their one and only child, Angelika, was born to them while in Scotland. They moved to England for a few years then in 1965 moved to Scarsdale, New York. They moved to Utah in 1989 and have lived here ever since. In 2004 Wasyl passed away and Erika moved to St. George, Utah. Erika’s passion was sharing her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone she met. She served numerous missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) and especially enjoyed serving in the LDS temple on a daily basis (sometimes twice daily).
She found joy in spending time with family, as well as cooking, sewing, knitting, and traveling. Erika will be remembered as always on the go, whether delivering goodies to neighbors, walking for miles or doing her headstands against a wall.
