On the evening of Sunday June 9, 2024, our sweet Emmett Jay Bleyle returned to his Heavenly home, safely wrapped in his parent’s arms, and in the walls of his own home.
Emmett (Em) came crashing into this world on August 31, 2017 through an emergency c-section in Provo, UT to his loving parents, Rylie and Jace Bleyle.
Shortly into his life, at two and a half months old, Emmett was admitted to Utah Valley Hospital for the first time, later requiring care at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. In early January 2018 he was formally diagnosed with an ultra-rare metabolic genetic disorder, PMM2 Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation (CDG) that would affect him head to toe. What was thought to be a devastating turn of events lead to the best, and most vibrant, six and half years of life. While Emmett would go on to spend most of his life in the hospital, that didn’t stop him from developing his own spunky, wild, loving and opinionated personality. He faced the trials and experiences of his medically complex life with grace, patience and understanding beyond his age.
Emmett’s strength and ability to endure through horrific medical treatments and long hospital stays was Heaven sent. He had a deep understanding of his divine purpose and continued on no matter how hard or how scared he was. He forgave freely and ended most interactions with him blowing kisses to anyone and everyone in the room.
Emmett’s energy is infectious! He is hilariously loud and quietly mischievous! When he wants attention, he knows how to get it. He loves to throw balls, scoot on his bum, and follow his sister wherever she goes. He loves watching Curious George, riding in Dad’s truck, being in his gait trainer, all things Baby Yoda and BB8, and snuggling with his mom to fall asleep each night. His laugh instantly fills a room and his “jiggly dance” is his best dance move! Relationships are his pride and joy and his way of connecting with people is unmatched. Everyone instantly falls in love with him. His wild hair and deep brown eyes are always ready for trouble and he is always looking for someone to make laugh!
His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the medical teams and providers, nurses, care technicians and all others at Utah Valley Hospital, Primary Children’s Hospital, Intermountain Homecare, Mayo Clinic, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the pediatric hospice team that helped bring him home.
Emmett is survived by his loving parents, Rylie and Jace, his little sister Brynlee (2), and baby brother Brooks (3 months); his grandparents Jacqueline and Corey Hilton, and Toni and Nick Bleyle, his awesome aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with many loving extended family members and friends.
