Emma Wellard

June 7, 1936 — January 28, 2020

Emma Eliza Sadlier Wellard, age 83 of Sandy Utah, passed away on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020 losing a 33 year battle against breast cancer. She was born to the late Don Egbert Sadlier and Stella Floy Stevens Sadlier on June 7th, 1936 in Vernal, Utah and was the oldest of eight.
Emma married Kenneth “Ken” Elwin Wellard on, July 23, 1959 and enjoyed an incredible loving romance for over 60 years. Emma is survived by her husband, two children (Kenna Mallory and Kim Edwards), her sons-in-law (Michael Mallory and Matthew Edwards), three grandchildren (Lauren Alai, Hayden Thomas and Ariana Edwards) and five siblings (MayVon Yost, John Sadlier, Ivan Sadlier, Lanice Thompson and Mary Ruth Whiting).
Emma graduated from Uinta Highschool in Vernal Utah and attended Brigham Young University. She enjoyed a long successful career, 40 plus years, working as the Human Resource Manager at Motor Cargo Ind., later acquired by UPS. She retired in 2010. Emma then served as the Secretary for the Cowboy Poets of Idaho from 2012 thru 2016.
There are not enough words to describe what a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Emma was. She found good in everyone, was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Emma loved attending family reunions, camping and playing Hand and Foot and Pinnacle with family and friends. She was very active and had several hobbies including sewing, quilting, reading, crocheting, knitting, genealogy, exercising, collecting (dolls, arrow heads, etc.) and yes… shopping! She enjoyed travel and especially loved motorcycle riding trips with Ken and attending Cowboy Poetry events.
Emma adored and spoiled her grandchildren. She made them at least one blanket, afghan or quilt each year along with Halloween costumes, doll clothes and even dog clothes for her favorite grand pup.
