Emma Lou Smith Potter

October 3, 1928 — April 1, 2017

Emma Lou Smith Potter, age 88 died peacefully April 1, 2017 in Salt Lake City, UT. By her side was her beloved husband of 69 years, William Potter. She was born to James O. and Emma Sylvia Smith.  Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her sister.  She was blessed to marry her love William Potter, who she met in 7th grade.  They became eternal companions in the Salt Lake Temple Nov. 7, 1947.  They will continue to be best friends and companions through the eternities.
Emma Lou had an active career, starting her first business in the 1950’s. She was, among other things, a model, teacher, and Director of Volunteers for the American Red Cross.  She helped many, many people in her life.
She is survived by four loving children. William S. Potter, IV (Linda Stewart), Laurie (Jay Leslie), Marc (Eric Brotherson), Chauntelle (Matt Fjeldsted), 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00. Visitation from 9:00-10:30. East Millcreek Stake Center 3103 Craig Drive 84109.  Entombment Wasatch Lawn. Memories may be shared at www.memorialutah.com Funeral Directors: Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary.
