Emma Andersen

February 27, 1920 — July 3, 2014

A truly sweet, kind soul, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 3, 2014. Elise continually taught us by her example to love others unconditionally, live with a positive attitude, always see the best in others, work hard and to endure to the end without complaint. We will love and cherish her forever.
Elise passed away in Salt Lake City at the age of 94 of causes incident to old age.
Born on 27 Feb 1920 in Slagelse, Denmark to Svend Aage Jensen and Helga Jorgine Pedersen. She had a twin sister, Elise Marie, who only lived until May of that year. She married her love Jens Gunner Andersen on 9 May 1941 in Slagelse. They were later sealed together, and to their two children, in the Salt Lake Temple in May of 1954.
She was an inspiration to her family throughout her life. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She loved Tole painting, embroidery, knitting and loved her family both here and in Denmark. It has been mentioned many times that her love was unconditionally bestowed to family and friends.
She was active in the Girl Scouts in Denmark so she and Gunner, who was an active scout leader, had a lot in common. An honor guard of Girl Scouts lined the Church steps on the day they were married.
Elise and Gunner with their two children Kai and Vinni immigrated to the US in 1953. Elise took house-cleaning jobs when they first arrived to help support the family.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many of the organizations in her ward including the Relief Society. She and Gunner served a mission together to Denmark from January 1983 to August 1984 where they made many lasting friends.
She was preceded in death by Gunner (2011) and her daughter Vinni (2009) her parents and her two younger brothers: Niels and Borge. She is survived by her son Kai (Ilene) and by 5 grandchildren: Lane (Devra), Eneli (Val Madsen), Kenton (Molly), Braden (Stephanie), and Kailee (Thayne) Johnson as well as 10 great-grandchildren (Sofie, Sawyer, Harper, Kate, Beck, Kai, Anika, Rowan, Lilian, and Emery). She loved them all very much and even when she could no longer see the calendar she remembered their birthdays.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the 20th Ward building at 107 G Street in Salt Lake City. A viewing will take place prior from 10:00 to 10:45 AM.
Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery (3115 E. 7800 So.)
Thanks to the staff at The Avenues Courtyard where she resided for several years and to St. Joseph Villa who cared for her the past 3 months.
