Emil James Samuelson Jr. “Jim”

Jim Samuelson, age 80, passed away peacefully at home in South Jordan UT. He was born in SLC, UT to Emil James Samuelson Sr. and Violet Marie Benson. He married the love of his life, Kay Lynn Fredrickson on June 1, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1962. His greatest joy was his family and he made great sacrifices on their behalf. He taught his children responsibility, the value of hard work, and eternal principles – not just through word, but through unconditional love, kindness, and by being a consistent example. Jim was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many different callings. He also honorably served his country in the army from 1953 – 1955. For most of his professional career he was the head foreman at Interstate Brick. He loved being outdoors, especially if it included fishing, camping, or hunting with his family. Bear Lake was always a favorite destination. After retiring, his interests expanded to include traveling with his sweetheart. Most of all, he loved just being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He had a kind, gentle way of leading his family in righteousness. Preceded in death by his wife Kay, parents, and one sister. Survived by children: Tom (Pam), Jon (Michelle), Kevin, Lecia (Randy), Emily (Stephen), Todd (Debbie), 27 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. The funeral services will be held Monday June 13, 2016 at the South Jordan Highland Stake center, 10200 South 4000 West at 11:00 a.m. Viewings will be held on Sunday June 12 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Redwood Memorial 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan and on Monday at the South Jordan Highland Stake Center one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah
