Elva Swallow Lindberg

d. May 17, 2021

Elva Swallow Lindberg, 104, passed away on May 17, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Jack Paradise, who lovingly cared for her the past year and a half.
Elva was born January 21, 1917 in Meadow, Millard, Utah, the daughter of Charles Swallow and Isabella Dearden. She grew up in Meadow surrounded by older siblings, their families, and many friends in this farming community where her father ran a mercantile store and post office. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Elva nurtured a colorful garden filled with roses, peonies, iris, and other perennials and annuals.
Elva was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After graduating from Millard High School, she served in the Eastern States Mission where she met her future spouse. Elva Swallow married Paul Franklin Lindberg on September 6, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised five children. They later served as a senior couple in the Canada, Vancouver Mission.
She served in many church callings including Primary and Relief Society. Elva had a special love for children.
With her kindness and concern for others, Elva made friends easily and held those friends close and dear for decades. In her years as a long-time resident of Highland Cove Retirement Community, she welcomed new residents and developed friendships lasting many years.
Her greatest love was her family to which she freely gave in so many ways. She loved her husband, Paul, who adored her. She loved her parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Paul’s family. Elva, with the support of Paul, cared for two sisters with chronic illnesses. Time spent with Elva left each child feeling loved, adored, and valued. Elva appreciated the sacrifices and challenges of her ancestors and spent many hours researching and documenting her family history and attending the temple.
Elva and Paul spent many days playing golf together and with friends. She made two “holes in one.” Throughout her life, Elva enjoyed games and putting together puzzles with family and friends.
Elva is survived by her five children: Paula Paradise (Jack) of Cottonwood Heights, Randy Lindberg (Susan) of Holladay, Kristine Hiller (Bruce), Lisa Lindberg of Taylorsville, Utah, and Karen Rasmussen (Carl) of Kingwood, Texas; 23 grandchildren and 69 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: Spouse, Paul F, Lindberg. Parents, Charles and Isabella Swallow, Siblings: Thomas C. Swallow, Eliza E. Swallow, Iva S. Bushnell, Laura S. Beckstrand, Noreen S. Labrum, O. Truman Swallow, Norma S. Reid, Donald D. Swallow, Myrtle Swallow, Nola S. Killam; and Daughter-in-law, Lane Caylor Lindberg.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Debi Einfeldt and Valeo Home Health and Hospice for their extra help.
